Confidence, Focus, Self-Regulation, Kindness, Strong & Safe Body
At Kingston’s Best, we strive to create an environment that is nurturing, respectful, and empowering.
Our martial arts programs are designed to build physical, mental and emotional strength. Relationship development is at the heart of our training as we utilize the Life Ki-do Tools for Life curriculum which guide our members as they develop Focus, Mindfulness, Confidence, Resilience, and Social Intelligence (empathy, compassion, and kindness).
What we strive to do is to help our members develop an internal compass and inner strength that will serve them in developing happy and healthy relationships as they navigate their path in life. We believe that life is about the connections we create with others and the positive experiences that these connections yield.
What People Are Saying
"Master Cumming's has definitely found his calling and is very passionate about his academy. It is certainly NOT just about Martial Arts though - this is where our family goes to feel a sense of community, belonging, giving back, paying it forward, enjoying Parents Night Out (lending us the chance to reconnect once a month) and many other celebrations throughout the year! My kids have formed lasting friendships, build their confidence, learned about respect, and developed skills that will help facilitate other athletic activities they take on. I can't say enough about the care, professionalism and effort that Kingston's Best has to offer. You are literally welcomed and individually greeted every time you walk in the door! "

AREAS OF FOCUS
Our Life Ki-do tools for life curriculum focuses on these 5 main areas
We encourage a safe, fun, active and respectful environment. Here, we view mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow, failure as something that results from trying, and fear, albeit a normal feeling, an opportunity to be courageous. Our approach provides our students a foundation for transformation and evolution.
Students learn how to use their voice while not silencing others, through the cultivation of effective communication and listening skills that focus on teamwork. Empathy, compassion, and respect are at the foundation of everything we do.
SELF REGULATION DEVELOPES WHEN STUDENTS LEARN THE TOOLS TO CHECK IN WITH THEMSELVES.
Students learn to self-regulate by checking in with themselves in order to increase focus that enables them to strive to be their personal best. Inner confidence and a strong sense of identity are realized when students consistently give their best effort. The focus and confidence our members gain affects all aspects of their lives, including a decrease in the level of influence felt by peer expectations for how they should look and/or behave.
A principal aspect of the Life Ki-do Tools for Life curriculum is to provide individuals with a foundation for overcoming life’s challenges. Learning to breathe, relax and flow instead of living with anxiety and tension are tools students learn because they are vital in a fast-paced competitive world.
In addition to strength, agility, flexibility, endurance, speed, and balance, our students focus on breath, achieving flow, body awareness, and coordination—a great foundation for sports, as well as general health and well-being.
